En\u00a01904, ils font un\u00a0premier voyage exploratoire sur nos terres. Tr\u00e8s vite, ils y\u00a0fondent la\u00a0Qu\u00e9bec and Saint Maurice Industrial Company, acqui\u00e8rent les droits d\u2019exploitation des chutes et\u00a0deviennent, d\u00e8s 1907, le\u00a0plus important propri\u00e9taire priv\u00e9 de\u00a0terres bois\u00e9es au\u00a0Qu\u00e9bec. En\u00a01909 d\u00e9butera la\u00a0construction d\u2019un\u00a0barrage et\u00a0d\u2019une usine de\u00a0p\u00e2te de\u00a0bois. L\u2019usine \u2013 devenue la\u00a0Brown Corporation en\u00a01917 \u2013 sera reconnue comme le\u00a0premier moulin \u00e0\u00a0papier \u00ab\u2009kraft\u2009\u00bb au\u00a0Canada en\u00a01928. En\u00a0qu\u00eate d\u2019une eau plus pure pour produire du\u00a0papier plus blanc que blanc, la\u00a0voil\u00e0 qui lorgne du\u00a0c\u00f4t\u00e9 du\u00a0Grand-lac-Wayagamac. En\u00a01935, la\u00a0Brown installe, \u00e0\u00a0grands frais, une conduite d\u2019eau de\u00a01,12\u00a0m\u00e8tre (44\u00a0pouces) de\u00a0diam\u00e8tre sur 13\u00a0km soit la\u00a0distance s\u00e9parant le\u00a0moulin du\u00a0lac.
